Congress questions RAF deployment as 26 arrested in Arunachal dam protests

Twenty-six people have been arrested in Pasighat during ongoing dam protests in Arunachal Pradesh. The arrests coincide with reports that protest-related violence has now spread to Upper Subansiri.

The unrest has prompted the Congress party to question the deployment of the Rapid Action Force to the region. Representatives warned that escalating the security presence without addressing the underlying grievances of the demonstrators will fail to resolve the situation.

According to Congress, relying on security forces rather than finding a resolution to the core issues threatens to deepen existing tensions across the Siang, Upper Siang, and East Siang areas.
