Actor Sanjay Dutt has pledged to develop a sequel to the crime thriller "Kaante" in tribute to the film's director, Sanjay Gupta, who died on October 30 at the age of 59.

Gupta passed away following a fall at his residence in Mumbai. The Indian filmmaker was recognized for directing prominent features such as the gangster saga "Shootout at Wadala" and the Hrithik Roshan project "Kaabil." Following his death, numerous film industry figures, including actors Kajol, Raveena Tandon, and longtime friend and director Milap Zaveri, publicly mourned the loss.

In a personal tribute, Dutt reflected on a friendship defined by profound cinematic discussions and shared memories. Accompanying his message with photographs of their time together, the actor promised to realize Gupta's unfulfilled ambition by moving forward with "Kaante 2."

Shortly before his death, a final interview was released in which Gupta spoke about his personal life.
