Delhi Implements Revised Vehicle Entry Rules as Air Quality Plummets

NEW DELHI PSqure Daily Correspondent

Revised vehicle entry restrictions have taken effect in Delhi under the Graded Response Action Plan, triggered by a severe deterioration in the capital's air quality. Drivers heading to offices and other destinations must now ensure their vehicle types are permitted to enter the city under the new compliance rules implemented on November 1, 2026.

The strict entry regulations coincide with Delhi's air quality dropping into the 'very poor' and 'hazardous' categories for the first time this season. On Monday, a thick haze enveloped the national capital as pollution levels surged past the 300 mark. By 8 a.m. on November 2, 2026, the city recorded a 24-hour average air quality index reading of 310.

Parts of wider northern India are also experiencing similar declines in atmospheric conditions. With more smog expected to settle over the region in the coming days, the revised vehicle restrictions aim to curb further environmental degradation. Motorists are advised to check current entry bans before traveling into the city.
