Raihan Vadra's protest photographs pulled from Delhi's Bikaner House exhibition

NEW DELHI Nightpost Correspondent

Photographs by Raihan Vadra depicting youth protests in Delhi have been removed from an exhibition at Bikaner House in the capital, after the venue's management raised objections to the images. Raihan Vadra, the son of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, said officials flagged both the content and the timing of the photographs, describing them as objectionable.

Bikaner House, which is run by the Rajasthan government in New Delhi, hosted the exhibition. Raihan Vadra said the images focused on young people participating in protests in Delhi, and he indicated that the removal had left conspicuous blank walls where the photographs had previously been displayed.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra responded publicly to the episode with a message of support for her son, telling him to stand for what is true. Her remarks drew attention to the episode and added a political dimension to what had begun as a dispute over exhibition content.

The removal has prompted debate about the boundaries of artistic expression at government-managed cultural venues. Raihan Vadra has not indicated whether he intends to seek an alternative venue to display the photographs that were taken down.
