A missile strike on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday killed at least twelve people and wounded more than 300 others, Saudi authorities said, in what officials described as the deadliest attack on the kingdom in over a decade. Saudi and United States officials attributed the strike to Yemen's Houthi rebels, who had not commented publicly on the incident.

Among those killed were four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi nationals, a Palestinian, an American, an Egyptian, a Jordanian, a Syrian and a Sudanese national. Saudi authorities said some of the wounded remained in a critical condition. Saudi Arabia vowed a decisive response to the attack, with a government minister pledging a serious retaliation against the armed group.

Several airlines suspended flights serving Saudi airports in the aftermath of the strike, and a number of embassies issued warnings to their nationals about the risks of travelling through Saudi airspace following repeated Houthi threats targeting it. India described the attack as completely unacceptable. Oil prices rose amid growing concern over supply disruptions linked to the escalating tensions between the Iran-backed Houthis and Saudi Arabia.

Cristiano Ronaldo was seen waving a Saudi-flag scarf following an Al Nassr match that had been interrupted by a missile alert during the same period of heightened tension.
