The Milwaukee Brewers moved to within two wins of the National League pennant on Monday night, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-4 in Game 2 of the NLCS to seize a commanding 2-0 series lead. William Contreras was the catalyst for Milwaukee, who piled up 12 hits — ten of them singles — and wore down the Los Angeles bullpen in the later stages of the contest.

The Brewers scored four runs across the final four innings to pull clear after what had been a tight contest, building on their 2-1 victory in Sunday's series opener. That first game had seen Brice Turang homer off Tarik Skubal before Milwaukee's bullpen closed out the Dodgers following a demanding outing from starter Jacob Misiorowski.

Contreras vowed after the game that the Brewers would "keep going", reflecting a mood of growing confidence inside the Milwaukee camp. Los Angeles, meanwhile, face mounting concern over the fitness of superstar Shohei Ohtani, whose availability for the remainder of the series was said to depend on the state of lingering injuries. The Dodgers must now win four consecutive games to avoid elimination as the series shifts venue.
