Freddy Peralta delivered a commanding performance to carry the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, levelling the best-of-seven series at one game apiece.

The Rays starter held Cleveland scoreless across six innings, repeatedly touching 99mph with his fastball. The Guardians, well aware of what Peralta was capable of bringing to the mound, still found no answer for his velocity and movement throughout his time in the game.

Cleveland's cause was not helped by a pair of costly fourth-inning errors from star third baseman Jose Ramirez, which allowed Tampa Bay to score three unearned runs. Ramirez, who had shone in the Guardians' Game 1 triumph, publicly accepted responsibility for the miscues after the final whistle.

The series now stands level after Cleveland had won the opener 7-3 on Monday night, with Chase DeLauter and Patrick Bailey hitting solo home runs and Nathaniel Lowe contributing a decisive two-run single in the eighth.
