Mona Agarwal delivered a stunning double at the Asian Para Games 2026, winning her second gold medal of the competition while breaking the world record in her event. The achievement underlined her status as one of India's premier para-shooters on the continental stage.

Agarwal had already announced herself at the Games by winning gold in the women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 event with a Games-record score of 250.0. Avani Lekhara claimed silver in that contest with 249.6 points, making it a strong showing for India in the discipline.

The individual brilliance was part of a wider surge by Indian para-athletes at the 2026 edition of the Games. India's overall medal tally crossed the 100 mark, with the country having previously finished fifth at the 2023 Asian Para Games, where they collected 111 medals in total — 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze. Other highlights included world-record gold medals for Sandeep and Haney, while Nimisha Chakkungalparambil and Parmod Bijarnia each secured silver in the women's long jump T47 and men's 1500m T46 events respectively.
